Italy
Well, I’ve arrived here a few hours ago. I pretty much haven’t slept for around 40 hours. I had some nap on the plane, but not enough to make me feel any good. Am so freaking tired right now that I can’t sleep!!
I was down in the bar before having a beer, and a lot of the people here for the conference are down there. I do not know a single person. My boss has gone off to play golf with some of the other managers, and I am left to fend for myself.
I do know 3 other people that are here, but I think they are all in meetings still as they arrived a few days ago. Once I catch up with them I’ll be good.
I feel so weird, because all of these people have trained or went to higher education(uni or whatever) for their business degrees and such, and even though I am dressed the same, I feel like an alien. I am even too scared to start a conversation in case they ask me questions about work that I‘m supposed to know but don’t because of my lack of prior learning to be a manager.
All will be fine by the end of the week, I know that, but for the first day I still feel like I shouldn’t be here.
The other thing that pisses me off is I cannot use my mobile phone here. For some reason I get no service. I need to contact my guys back in Thailand to check on things and confirm with end of month report etc, but cannot. I’ve even tried the land line here and it is shit.
BUT on the good side of things this place is freaking unreal!!! The views from one side of my room are great, a golf course and highway, and the other side the ocean. Beautiful!
Getting here from France was a real eye opener. The land is pretty much all mountainous, yet the highway is at the same level. It’s either high up on a bridge, or cutting through a mountain. And whenever you’re out of the mountain and looking out, all you can see is old villas, old buildings, and the ocean. Absolutely beautiful to the max!
Anyways, I need another beer. I’ll chat later
Ciao………
