Helmets Save Lives!!!

Yesterday on my way home from work I seen a sight which really has disturbed me slightly.

It was raining, not heavily, but enough, and coming towards me on a motor scooter were three Thais. It was a girl and a guy, and obviously their child at the front. It wasn't that none of them were wearing helmets, but the fact that the little child had a plastic bag over its head to stop the head getting wet.

A Plastic bag!!! These people were either stupid or just stupid. I can't make up my mind which. And to make it worse, the bag wasn't flapping around like they do, so it must have been tied slightly at the base (childs neck).

Crazy bloody people!! I asked one of my Thai workers how many people he thinks die each year in motorcycle related accidents. He told me 50,000. I said no way, surely you mean 15,000? Nope, he stated 50,000. Thats insane. Mainly because they don't care. Little children ride the bikes to school, no helmets, no care, no road sense. They just turn when they have to turn. If a big truck is hurtling down the road, you get the picture.

Last week the King Of Thailand was released from hospital from some ilness. Anyways, he was wearing a pink shirt. Immediately thousands of people rushed to buy pink shirts. Now, sense tells me that if the King was seen wearing a helmet, or even endorsed wearing helmets, thousands of lives can be saved. Thai's don't seem to think for themselves, but only act when told to.
