On Sunday night Thailand celebrated Loy Kratong. I don't know what it's for, but it's the second most popular Thai event in the year.
Basically what happens is all the girls get dressed up in traditional thai clothing, and then at midnight everyone floats a boat into the ocean. The boat can either be brought or made by hand using banana leaves, flowers and candles. Some look pretty awesome.
I was down at the bar Sunday night awaiting this event. There were thousands of people there either looking at all the market stalls that had been set up, or watching the rock concert that was going on, or getting pissed.
The tide was out, so there was plenty of room for a lot of people to be down at the beach. People were letting their boats go, and drinking, singing, dancing, and drinking.
I took some photos, but it's hard to get a good photo in the dark at the beach. But I have attached some photos here to show a bit of what was going on.
Enjoy, and Cheers.....
