Nightlife of Bangkok

What I can’t believe is that I wasted my time coming to Bangkok this weekend to check out the supposed unreal night life.

I’ve read several article regarding Koh Sarn Road, Patpong, and Soi Cowboy. According to reports these places are the be all and fuck all of Bangkok. I went there tonight, took me longer to get there in the taxi than it did to have a good time.

Pattaya kicks arse all over Bangkok. Here in Bangkok, to go from one soi (soi means side street) to another you have to get a taxi, spend 15 minutes going 4 kilometres. In Pattaya, you just have to walk maybe 1 or 2 minutes and you’re at the next one. Maybe that’s why Pattaya has such a bad name, everything is in one area. But for the drunk guy that is trying to check out as much twat as he can, nothing could be more perfect than Pattaya.

Maybe I need to find someone from Bangkok that knows the night life, and maybe they could show me where some good places are.

Koh Sarn Road (not spelt right), features in a few movies, it’s a backbackers first stop. In the movie The Beach, it’s where Leonardo Di Caprio first hears about The Beach. All I seen was a heap of stalls selling cheap crap (same shit you can find anywhere in Thailand) and a few bars filled with foreigners. Nearly every second person had dreadlocks. I’m glad I don’t ever have to go back to that place.

Second stop was Patpong. This place was supposed to be quite seedy. Once again all I seen was stalls selling cheap crap. Although they had some Go-Go bars. The lower floor has bars where the girls keep their clothes on, and the second floor had the nudies. I checked out both. Must be something wrong when you find yourself wishing you were back in the bar with the clothed girls. And that can’t be good. Kinda limits your choices. You can tell how bad a place can be by the 'lady shows' they put on. Some good places have good dancers, good shows, some have things that plain make you sick. Who gets off by watching a girl put a banana up her then shoot it over 3 metres into the first row of customers?

Third stop, and probably the best was Soi Cowboy. No stall selling cheap crap, just Go-Go bars. Not good quality ones though. One bar had a sign out front 50 sexy girls and 2 ugly ones. I think they got that mixed up. If you’ve been to a night club recently, you’ll know that anything white glows in the lighting they have. Well, so do stretch marks. The majority of Thai Go-Go dancers have at least 1 kid. That’s a fact that can’t be hidden unless they change their lighting arrangements, or put their clothes back on. Also all the drinks were about twice as expensive as Pattaya. The markup was about 5 times what they buy the drink for.

One thing that really pisses me off, is young kids selling stuff. You’ll be sitting there having a cold one, when some 6 – 8 year old girl/boy comes up to you trying to sell you gum, or flowers or whatever. Their parents are lazy slobs and make the kids sell stuff. It may be 3 in the morning and these poor kids are still at it. Tonight I seen it at it’s worst. A young girl selling gum actually went to a foreigner, put her arms around, him, and wouldn’t let go until he brought some gum. I’d of smacked her round the head.

So it’s only just turned midnight and I’ve been back at my motel for about an hour. How exciting is Bangkok? Unless something happens to change my opinion, I’ll never waste my time coming here again!!
