So, the trip is nearly over. I am sitting at LAX awaiting my return flight to Thailand.
What a few days it has been. I have been utterly bored in meetings for two days. We all had to give about a 15 minute presentation on our factories, and simple stuff. The bloody Italian and Chinese Managers spoke for around an hr each. Our big boss even was starting to fall asleep. They showed us figure after figure of stuff that is of no relevance, or importance, to our meeting.
But thankfully after 2 days it was over. On the Thursday night we went into a Mexican restaurant, which was really cool, and the food was awesome (so I am told). But on the way their in the taxi, the driver was a freak and his driving caused me to get sick, so I couldn’t eat. Although we did also get the trio of old men with guitars come and sing at our table. I recognized one sing, La Bamba (Richie valens song – remember?)
On the last night we had a BBQ in the hotel garden, and it was great. The beers kept coming, I kept drinking, and then at the end about 9 guys came out singing, playing trumpet, guitar etc. Was really awesome, and traditional. Even the hotel workers came out and took photos. So it must’ve been something unique. Of that I was glad I’d been a part of it.
After that some of us went around the corner to this sports bar, and played some pool. The beers were 1 litre glasses, very cold, and tasted awesome. After about 10 games, 6 beers, everyone decided to go to bed. I decided to hit the town and have a look. One of the Mexican Factory office workers said she’d take me seeing as she lived that way, and then I’d only have to catch a cab back. Sweet.
Get this, I’m in the car with Claudia, and she’s blabbing away about this and that, and than she tells me that 1 hour after I landed in Monterrey on Wednesday, Beyonce also landed. Beyonce!!!!! I had a go at her for not telling me. One of the hottest singers going around, and I missed her by 1 hr. I would loved to have taken several thousand photos of her. Bloody Mexicans!! Nah, they’re pretty good, really hospitable.
Downtown Monterrey is pretty cool. I hope I get another chance to go there and have a really good look. The beers were very cheap, about 25 pesos for two ‘stubbies’ in a large Styrofoam container. 25 pesos is equal to about $3 AUD. I stayed out til about 3am, then headed to the hotel.
The following day was my trip back to Dallas, then LA, and that day I was going on a tour of Hollywood. But no, the damn Customs clearance and security checks at Dallas caused me to miss my flight. So a few hours later I caught another flight to LA.
AND THEN when I got to LA my checked in luggage was missing. It had gone on my earlier flight, so I had to go to baggage claims, and find it. That took bloody hr and a half due to slow ass workers. Big line of customers and only one or two workers.
So I got to the hotel in LA around 5pm, and really couldn’t be stuffed going thru sat arvo traffic to look at a sign and some stars concreted into the ground. So I went to sleep.
And today I’m at the airport, about to go home. It’s been a good few days, and one day I will come back this way.
Anyways, my flight is boarding. I’ll chat to y’all later
Cheers
